Happy New Year 2010

The new year looks to be great for gaming. Some exciting games are coming out like God of War 3, MAG, Final Fantasy XIII, GT5, Agent, and many more. We can anticipate some great innovations coming to the PS3 this year like new motion controllers coming around Spring. 3D gaming with an update and possibly a new HDMI 1.4 will have a nice graphical impact. Looking forward we can see more upgrades and features of the Playstation network...possibly music related.

2009 brought us plenty of things to the PS3. We saw Playstation Home grew up in a big way this year and it is still free. Playing multiplayer games are still free and works very well. Some unique games came out in a big splash this year like Killzone 2, Infamous, Uncharted 2, and Demon Souls...playable only on the PS3 and are highly recommended.

Singstar Updates 4.2


I went on to sing a few songs for fun and notice the update and was shocked to learn that we can now edit our videos that we record our live performance. Pretty cool and it is free. I also noticed the online music store has now over 800 songs to choice from. A far cry from 80 songs in the beginning. So, this holiday if you want to get a good karoake experience for a low cost...checkout Singstar. Get the bundle with the mics. You will also want to get the playstation eye to make your videos and load up on the Singstar Community for judging.

Netflix Comes to PS3


Hurray, Netflix is coming to the PS3...it is going to start out with a disc that you will have to put into your PS3 til 2010...when they will finally update into XMB...probably due to legal reasons...Hmmmmmmmmmmmm. I found out early this morning on KCRA 3 here in Sacramento, CA...plus and additional confirmation by email from SONY...PS3 blog. I have been using it on other devices and it works great for watching older movies. Downloads start pretty fast too. Starting at $8.95 for DVD rentals(1 at a time plus you get the service where you can watch much as you want on your PS3. If you want Blu-ray, then it is $2 more.

God of War Comes to PS3 Blu-ray


God of War 1 and 2 will be on the same disc and remastered to HD with 60 frames a second with trophy support. A definite must for anyone who has not own the ps2 versions of the game. God of War 3 is coming in 2010.

Another Uncharted 2 Review "SPOILERS"



Even though GameTrailers.com gave U2 a 9.3(a good score, but many would argue should be higher), does show why this game is worth the price of admission. The game is polished, better in every way than the first one, and now has various types of multiplayer. A definite MUST HAVE for anyone with a PS3. See the review for yourself. Just letting you know that it does show some of parts of actual game play of the game. But if you are the fence, then you should check this review out.

Transferring Files by USB Thumb Drive

If you ever wanted to back up some of your files on your PS3 or just transfer some files from a PC, then here is what you can do using a thumb drive.

1. Connect your USB thumb drive to your PC and open it.
2. Make a folder called PS3
3. Inside the PS3 folder make four folders called... MUSIC,PICTURE,SAVEDATA, and VIDEO (All in CAPS)

By doing this allows your files to be recognized by the PS3 when you insert your USB thumb drive. This comes in handy when you want to backup your files and move to a a new PS3 slim or upgrade your hard drive. Important, you can not backup your games and updates...those you can download from the PSN store. So, BEWARE (you can only download your purchases so many times from PSN)

Example...
Now that you set up your thumb drive you can load some pictures from your Personal Computer onto the file PICTURE. Take the the drive over to your PS3 and plug the drive into a usb port. Look under photo and in seconds your drive should appear. If you push X then you will get a scary message "There are no images". So push "O" to go back to the drive and push ^ Triangle. Select "Show all" and you will see the four files made. Select PICTURE and view your contents. Use ^ Triangle to Transfer to your PS3 or do a slide show.

To save those pictures of Ingame play on you Wipeout HD. Just select the photo on your PS3, then push ^ Triangle to select "Copy". And you are now ready to take the drive back to your PC to post on your blog.

The $299 AD



I was at a party tonight and brought my PS3 along to play Rock Band 1 and 2. My surprise is that most of the people at the party have no idea about the PS3 on what it can do. Slim? Clueless, guess only the internet crowd gets it. I think these commercials need to get out to the masses more.

The good news is my local Best Buy was sold out of them on Saturday.

Why cheer? The more consoles equals more money for developers to come and make better games and features for all of us.

Totally agree. The sad thing is that I have a friend who does that very thing. Got a PS3 a couple of years ago and has no idea of all the cool things you can do online for FREE.

You guys know about HOME having free movie clips now and free mini games to checkout? Not to mention updates, the video store, buy games, and and just use the browser to surf the web. COME ON!

It is nice to see the inner workings of your new PS3. Especially, if you want to upgrade the hard drive(which does not void your warranty see your owners manual to double check). WARNING, going in your new PS3 other than changing your hard drive may VOID your warranty. I would also recommend going onto the forums at us.playstation.com to see other peoples how to's before jumping in. It is strongly recommended that you use the right SCREW DRIVER and be careful of stripping the blue screw. I had to use pliers to get mine out of my old PS3 60gb.

Batman Arkum Asylum Special Edition



As the video shows, the special edition may not be all that it is cracked up to be. Even if its the 360 version, i thought it may be important to show that Batarang. The PS3 version probably has different codes. We do get to play as the Joker in its own map that we can download for free on PSN. The game is out. Shop around for deals. The game looks pretty good and offers more than what the demo showed that you can download at PSN store.

Not much has changed except that the ability to install another OS on the system has been removed. Aside from that, you're looking at quite the sexy console on the market. Ba boom.

Game Price Hiking in Europe for MW2



From wedotech.net, our friends over in the UK our being squeezed on a serious price increase for Modern Warfare 2. Watch the video on the level of seriousness. Game prices this generation already started higher this past few years and all indications looks like it may be going up even higher.
I kind of agree with higher prices: people will start to look for other alternatives...like used games...putting them off for 6 months/year til a serious price drop....only buy a smaller amounts than what we would like...encourage piracy...or just quit gaming altogether. This along with the recession/depression could bring about another gaming crisis of ruining the industry. Activision already made threats to SONY about lowering the price of their console. Kind of ironic that they are increasing Activisions pricing on their games.

Who Ya Gonna Call? GHOSTBUSTERS!!!


I bought the game and returned due to some of the things I read on N4G.com about the comparisons with the xbox 360 version. Saying there were some serious visual differences.
Well, I couldn't tell right off the bat...but later I did see some of the pics that reminded me what was said(But they a occur for a brief second, NOT the whole game as they would have us believe. The brightness issue really isn't there with the retail version. The only thing that really effect me was the my character back of his head pixelating some when moving. The Xbox360 version did have some errors too when I played it for 20 minutes. I do not want to buy games for my xbox so much, when you have to pay to play online. Just not right.
So, I rented it for the PS3 and was really impressed with the story. I used gamespot.com for their walkthru guide which helps you out at those few sticky spots. I agree with ign.com on this one saying if about some of the issues occuring in the game, regardless of the version. But, surprisingly and impressed with the story of the game. It definitely makes you feel like you are apart of the team in the 3rd movie. The career mode aka campaign is great.
The multiplayer is actually made by another team. It nice to be able to use mics and team up with three others. Allowing friends to join in on the fun in capturing Ghosts.

Please, read some other reviews out there for the game.

I even went to Atari.com for the debate about the PS3 version...was kind of bummed by an answer by one of the developers saying they were not using the full 7 of the SPU's...just 3...dedicating one to audio...while the xbox version does not. So, they could of made this game look more incredible if it was an exclusive. Caliman87 says...Why not make it the best you can for any console? Still is a good game, but come one.

I pretty impressed and regret not buying it due to fear being spread across about some writers on N4G.com

The game is fun to play. Best movie game out there...as if there were any others that were any good. Looking to rent Transformers next.

Rock Band 2 Code Unlock All Songs


So, you are planning to have a few friends over and have a rock party. Well, rather playing the standard format...unlock all the song right off the bat, so everyone can just enjoy it.

Harmonix has introduced “game modifiers” into “Rock Band 2,” which includes such options as a long-needed no fail mode — and a secret song-unlock code.

The catch? You need to know the code! But we’ve already figured that out for you. You simply input the original “Rock Band” unlock code — Red, Yellow, Blue, Red, Red, Blue, Blue, Red, Yellow, Blue — in the game modifier screen.

Once the code is entered, the unlock song modifier will be unlocked. Voila! You have just unlocked all of the songs available in “Rock Band 2.”

Star Wars The Old Republic is MMO Desired

Microsoft E3 has a Weaker Showing Than Expected


The conference today dashed all hopes of a new peripheral or portable game console. They came up with Natal which is the controller is basically you using a camera. This really already has been done at a fail. Have they come up with software to make it truely useful? They claim, yes, but from what I see is basicly an evitable epic fail again. Microsoft did the same thing as last year by grabbing another playststion game franchise...the Metal Gear series. Further proving that Sony is better. The cool thing they are going to offer free for gold members is LAST.fm(hopefully, free music to enjoy). HD movies instanly sounds good at 1080p(good improvement)...but at $5.99(I personally think they should make it lower to be more accepted). A super cool thing is that we will be able to share our movies and music with friends in our own party system. A basic version of Facebook is their attempt to be a somewhat answer to HOME. Trying make a social network...at least it is a step in the right direction. The only games they are offering is Halo ODST, Forza 3, and Alan Wake(not til 2010). My opinion is that competition makes everyone better.

So, we will see what SONY and Nintendo offers tomorrow.

My opinion is Microsoft is ok but not great with more improvements and games. Plus, no hand held again(I was hoping for an HD Zune gaming device, but nada). Natal is a question mark. The avatars are still out til lunch...bummer. Microsoft Studios needs more games to keep the console up to speed in my opinion. relying on third parties is a recipe for trouble ahead.

Recruitment in Socommunism Clan


Everyone one in Socommunistical clan can recruit other members. Think of the mafia and the jedi. You are building your own team. They are responsible to you and you are to them. like a Padawan. A trial period can last a matter of 1 week to a month or more. Bringing the member to the vote of the Council to be a full fledge member.

The problems in other clans that I have seen. New members are just thrown in. No real guidance. They fumble around and get frustrated. Causing problems for everyone.

Clan tags are given freely. But can easily be taken away. Please, keep it simple and have fun. The clan is for its members.

Members of our clan be careful on who we bring in. Stats are nice, but maturity and being able to relate to our community is more VALUED.

Establishing a Soccommunist Clan


OK...a clan for its members still needs a leadership though. Think of Star Wars III "Revenge of the Sith." In reference to the Jedi Council. Master Yoda is the leader. But still listens and abides with the Council to make decisions for the Jedi. Even though many members are not on the council. Everyone is respected. Concerns can be addressed to the Council for shaping the clan. In battle, anyone can be appointed GENERAL to direct operations of the battle. They do not have to be on the Council...just like many Jedi seen in the movie fighting battles abroad.

The funny thing is they are sometimes referred to Knights of the Republic. Isn't a republic a communism term...like the People Republic of China. Hmmmmmmm.

SOCOMMUNISM


A start of a whole new revolution...in Socom Confrontation clan formations that is. Socommunism is basically the idealogy of merging people who like socom and combining the ideals of Communism. According to wilkpedia... Communism is a socioeconomic structure and political ideology that promotes the establishment of an egalitarian, classless, stateless society based on common ownership and control of the means of production and property in general. NOW,I am not advocating communism, but the basic need to more of a classless clan. We join our clans in hopes finding new friends, share ideas,and have fun playing Socom. Not to be bullied and abused by power hungry tyrants and faces countless drama issues. Socommunism is not having to attend long winded training sessions and meetings and have the threat of being casted out of the clan. It enpowers their members to pick and choose what they want. A little anarchy against the old establishments. Yet still serving the common good of the clan as a whole. Everyone has a voice.

Remember SEGA CD Night Trap



I was looking through my old games and found this old jem. Surprisingly, we have not seen any resurgeance of film video/games. I think that SEGA should consider offering a game like this and others as a download on PSN. If they keep the price low($2-4.99)...would be neat reliving. My Sega CD is getting tired..yikes!

This game has a funny scary twist as you can see in the video. Kinda like watching an old horror movie. You are basically saving people by going through the different video camera feeds in the house and setting traps at the right time. Can be frustrating at times(got to be active setting traps rather than just watching), but interesting in what is going to happen next. This and more videos found on youtube

Singstar New Voice Feature


Available on the new and improved Singstar store through the game you can get this download. It is currently free...so, please act fast. It did mention that it may be included in the future releases of new singstar games like the Queen edition due later in August of this year. Tried it out yesterday and it works great. No more looking around the room to move on to sing the new song. Just say what you want by using the voice commands on the blue mic. Plus, you can still have the option to turn it off which is nice too. Nice update. Oh, some of the trophies are pretty easy to get. And this game use the playstation eye really well so you can see your performance and share online with others. Rating others I found fun to do too.

New EA Sports Complex now up in HOME



Hurray! We have another cool Home space with new "FREE" games available. It feels like a two-in-one. They have a free race car game downstairs, videos, poker tables upstairs, looks like a driving range coming soon, shops coming soon, and the place is really huge. Access it like you do any other of the HOME spaces. It just keeps getting better and better. Advertising like this is a win for everyone. Plenty of room to expand. Like the poker table...you have to wait for your turn jump in on a race.

A Possible Cure for YLOD

For the few that may have encountered an error of yellow. I found a possible guide of someone working on there PS3 that had an air flow problem causing the so called YLOD - "Yellow Light OF Death." A possible solution if all else fails...I do recommend contacting SONY for help before you try this.

Singstar Update 3.01 Tomorrow


Looks like it's time to pick up SingStar again. A free 3.01 patch will be made available for all PS3 versions of SingStar, adding Trophy support and a new voice control feature that lets you select songs using vocal commands -- no need to pick up a controller! Finally, My SingStar Online will be revamped with a brand new look.

FYI- I like trying to sing. I was able to get 3 1/2 stars on "Just a Giglo" online...yeah...now I can get trophies.

"Poker!" FREE In HOME


Checkout the first of many EA game spaces...The Godfather 2 Space. Has a nice bar area to mingle and watch a ad for the game. Go upstairs and to the back to see all the poker tables set up. To play, you have to go to an empty table and everyone has a minute to join in. It basically 5 card poker elimination and it is FREE. You find it under locations... Along with the many others spaces. Looking forward to the next one from EA.

My View of Gaming Clans




If you seen the "Kill Bill" movie, you may heard references to this old Japanese ninja show on small networks during the 80's. "Kage No Gundan Shadow Warriors" is a great action drama showing how ninja clans operates...being a part of a group of people with a common goal. I think the idealism of ninja clans is where gamers' took to the ideas in the PC world, and it is fits perfectly in my opinion.

Think about it...the IGA Clan was huge...however, the series focused on chief Hatorri Hanzo with 4-8 members performing missions. Every now and then, members would be switched out or teamed up with another group of the same clan on the other side of the province. Still, IGA ninjas alway easily meshed due to members knowing all the basics that the members needed to get the job done.

So, the reason why I wrote this piece is to enlighten one thoughts of a joining a clan. Whether is it is big or small. People have to work together. Just like the Shadow Warriors of old.

At first when I saw this, I thought that I already downloaded the Killzone 2 Demo from before the game release. But I noticed that it is only 190MB. It is basically the 10 second commercial with ability to manipulate it and understand the commercial better. Includes commentary as well. Use the start button to access the controls. Download it on the PSN store available today for FREE! If you like shooters then this is a game to own.

If you were like me back on the PS1 you spent your childhood playing Worms. Having those fun sleepovers passing the controller around having a good old time. Well guess what worms is back and it just as fun this time around on the PS3! The game is just as fun as the original when it came out. If your a old worms fan you will want to pick up this game as it is a steal for only $13! Below is my review of worms I hope you find it useful.

If your new to the series this is a turned based strategy game. You control four worms on your team with one goal... destroy the enemy worms! Typically it'll be your team versus another team, though you can have up to four teams of worms going at it at once. You have 60 seconds to make your move while choosing from a vast list of destructible weapons. The environment in this game is a key part of planning your moves as it is constantly being altered from enemy attacks to the wind that blows your rocket launcher shots around. The classic explosive barrels, land mines, toolboxes, and crates are back through the levels

The game does support PSN trophies which is a great addition to the game. As far as offline mode goes it is pretty limited. The first thing you will want to get your hands into is the 3 training levels that come with the game - plus after you beat them you unlock a easy trophy. There is no real story mode to the game at all just 25 challenge maps to play out. The challenge mode is all about competing the set goals described before you start the map. Once you are all done with that you can go play some random quick matches with the computer players.

Online is where the real fun is at. You can play with up to 3 other players online and battle it out. Voice chat is supported and I have found that alot of people have headsets. The only real issue with online play is it can take awhile to load up the map and all of the players into it. I really have not had that many issues with the online play besides being booted out of a few rooms and what not. There seems to be a good amount of players playing online so it is quite easy getting a match going. If you really want this game I would buy it for its online gameplay as it makes up for the lacking features in singleplayer.

The graphics on this game are the best in the series so far are like eye candy to look at. As far as options goes there are a few to play with. You can tinker around with the teams and make your own. Ever want to have Bob Barker and Johnny Knoxville as worm names well go ahead and do that! You can also edit the difficulty settings and adjust the weapons you get when you start out. When you create a match online or a offline quick match you can create the map how you want it. You can adjust the background, landshpaes and object levels. If a buddy of yours creates a level you like just copy down the generation code a put it in yourself and play it all over again. I forgot to mention that there is an online leaderboard as well for ranked 1 on 1 games.

Overall I wound buy the game if your a fan of worms or a newcomer to the series. It is very addicting and fun to play offline and online. Over time the servers should get smoother and have a higher player population.

OVERALL SCORE: 4/5

BIG NEWS! Two PSN IDs at Once in Game


The new update is expected to out by tomorrow 2.7 and a patch for Resistance 2 allowing users with friends over the house to allow the 2 PSN IDs to play a long and get credit too. WOW! Maybe, we may see updates to other games like LBP. See link for more details reported by Andrew Yoon.

Resetting Your PS3 Controller?



A few days ago, I called SONY support about my PS3 DS3 controller concerning the battery life going down really fast. The charge was only lasting less than an hour. Now, I know as the batteries do get old and used quite a bit like I do...the battery life does go down. But, tech support offer me a little trick to try before running out and buy a new battery.

1. Plug your controller in the PS3.
2. Use a paper clip to push on the reset button on the bottom of the controller near the top by the USB connection.
3. Notice change in blinking lights as it resets.

And presto, my battery life has increased dramatically. Not 25hrs, but several hours more.

Now you can replace the battery if you want to. It is in your owners manual for the PS3. The rechargeable battery you can buy at your electronic stores or ebay.com.

More Game Clan Support for SONY Games


I noticed recently that Socom and Killzone 2 are giving more clan support to games than others did in the past. They have been combining games and their websites. Socom as a prime example with the updates of its website 2.0 linking your PSN ID with your clan buddies. And now announced with an update of 1.5 to give even more support for clans as according to socom.com...

Patch 1.5
I am hearing a lot of you wondering what is next, now that Patch 1.41 is out. Well the team is working on Patch 1.5 already. There have been a lot of changes and additions that you have requested and they are looking to see how much can be done for this patch. So you will see some community requested items. They are also planning for that patch to include the clan ladder and tournament calendar. We will have more information on that as we get closer to release of the patch.

Killzone 2 does a nice job when making your own war rooms. By giving a passcode option and making a room specifically for clans. Clans are reinforced on their website with a top ten and showing scores.

Speculation...if SONY with the developers promotes clan support in their HOME Spaces coming soon. Like showing top performing clans and a private War Room option with game launching abilities. Example, think about combining the Warhawk Space's map board feature to Drake's Sully's Bar coded doors. Being able to challenge other clans through HOME or the main game's website. Brings an element of gaming socialization superior to any other console or PC can offer. Bring more developers onboard to cater to the hardcore gaming audience.

So, combining websites and games for clans support are being done now which makes things better than what they were. And the future possibilities of new HOME Spaces could take gaming clans to the next level of competition.

And looking at the other conole developers, we can hope they will take a new interest in promoting social gaming further.

Transfering Files to PS3 for FREE

Download it to your PC that you want to transfer files from. Nothing to the PS3. Your PS3 will see it when program has started wirelessly. When installing though on Vista, I did have to jump through a few hurdles to get the programs set up like adjusting users and turning of virus programs for the loading.

Using it, for example, go to the Music Icon on the XMB. Under Music you will see Tversity pop up and search through the files that you want to hear using your d-pad. The same with Photos and Movies. Takes a little effort, but worth it, and it is FREE. There are videos on youtube.com for help. Enjoy. Thanks to JJSILVA for the submission of this website.

Microwaving a PS3



The pic is from a video of someone melting a PS3 and a controller. Strange, the pic reminds me of those original advertising videos of the PS3 having eyes. Unfortunately, after the first hour posted on n4g.com and youtube.com the other night. The video is no longer shown. The interesting is that I notice is the the PS3 is pretty strong even in a microwave. Just smoked up, while the controller was making weird noises and bursted in flames later shown in the video.
